Two young girls have been arrested in central London, August 21 in suspicion of trying to join ISIS in Syria. The girls were taken into custody around 9PM, and you can see the Scotland Yard police statement here.

A teenage girl, 16, and a 20-year-old woman were “arrested on suspicion of traveling to Syria to join ISIS,” Daily Mail reported.

“Officers from the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command arrested a 20-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts, namely traveling to Syria to join a proscribed organization,” the site said Scotland Yard stated. “They were arrested in central London at approximately 9pm on Sunday, August 21. Both were taken into custody at a central London police station.”

With the number of young people attempting to flee to ISIS in order to join terrorist groups is rising, this news comes just one week after “British schoolgirl Kadiza Sultana, 17, was killed by an airstrike in Raqqa.” The site reports that Kadiza left her home in “East London in the UK to join ISIS in Syria during the Easter 2015 school holidays.” It is anticipated that “she died in early 2016 after her new home was hit by a bomb believed to have been dropped by a Russian plane.” It is also believed that she and friends “wed fellow foreigners who were fighting for the Islamic State.”
