After the video of Mo’Nique blasting Tyler Perry, Lee Daniels and Oprah took over the net yesterday, the actress/comedian’s friend Sheryl Underwood spoke her piece about the situation. Get her take inside….
During Mo’Nique’s recent stand-up show at the Apollo, she told Tyler, Lee and Oprah to suck a whole d*ck if she had one. Her anger stems from her believing they allegedly got her shut out of work in Hollywood after her Oscar win.
Now, “The Talk” host and friend of the fellow comedian Sheryl Underwood is somewhat defending her girl. But she also equated the situation to the time Sheryl, herself, realized she was jeopardizing her own career by constantly being argumentative and confrontational.
“Mo’Nique gave me one of my first jobs…I feel this is unfortunate because we love Lee Daniels and what he’s doing, we love Tyler Perry, we love Oprah Winfrey, and if there is a way for us to settle this…she’s an amazing actress and an amazing comic – so somehow we have to settle this together…and the hard part about this is other people make demands and they still get the work. I’m not saying I agree with what she did, I’m saying I’m concerned about my friend right now.”
Co-host Julie Chen responded saying, “I just wonder if maybe a little bit of everything is true here… If she just said I’m sorry, I bet you doors would open up.” Sheryl Underwood said, “I would agree.”
Hmph. Check out the exchange below:
