Jennifer Hudson tapped into her inner Aretha Franklin for a showstopping performance at the 2020 BET Awards.
JHud – who has two BET Awards under her belt – performed a rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Young, Gifted and Black,” paying homage to the legendary singer before the release of her biopic, RESPECT. And her performance brought the gospel feels.

JHud will play Aretha Franklin in the upcoming biopic about the legendary singer’s life titled, RESPECT. As you know, the Queen of Soul handpicked the Dreamgirls actress to play her before her death in 2018. Marlon Wayans, Forest Whitaker, Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah will also star in the film.
RESPECT is set for a Christmas release, but that could change due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
