A black Florida sheriff says he’ll “deputize” any lawful gun owner in his county to combat protesters. Watch his warning video and more inside…
Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels – a black man – said he’ll make “special deputies of every lawful gun owner in this county” if he feels they’re unable to handle protests. Yikes!
“If we can’t handle you, I’ll exercise the power and authority as the sheriff, and I’ll make special deputies of every lawful gun owner in this county and I’ll deputize them for this one purpose to stand in the gap between lawlessness and civility,” Sheriff Daniels said in a three minute video posted on the Clay County Police Department’s Facebook page.
“That’s what we’re sworn to do. That’s what we’re going to do. You’ve been warned,” he continued.

Sheriff Daniels is the county’s first black sheriff – up for reelection – and he wants to one day be a congressman. According to reports, is currently under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement related to an affair he had with a fellow officer when he was at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and a subsequent false arrest of that officer.
Hmph!
Following the video, Sheriff Daniels explained what he meant by his comments:
“We have not given – and will never give – anybody the autonomy or approval under the name of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.”
“That is our responsibility,” Daniels said. “But when it comes to protecting this county, that is more than the sheriff’s office responsibility. It’s us collectively, it’s our county, it’s our community and our responsibility to police ourselves together, but when it comes to authority, the authority is the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and every sworn law enforcement officer in this jurisdiction.”

Thoughts?

A Miami-Dade police officer has been “relieved of duty” after he punched a black woman in the face who confronted him at the Miami International Airport recently.
According to TMZ, a woman who was late for her flight to Chicago was upset when she learned she had to be rebooked on a fight for the next day. The American Airlines ticket agent called security, and things got even more out of control instead of officers de-escalating the situation.
When the woman got close to the officer’s face asking what he was going to do, the officer claimed she head-butted him, which can not be confirmed by the footage.  He then punched her with extreme and violent force.
After the video went viral, Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez relieved the officers of duty.

I am shocked and angered by a body cam video that i just saw involving one of our officers. I’ve immediately initiated an investigation and ordered that the involved officers be relieved of duty. Actions such as these undermine the hard work that we have invested in (1 of 3)…

our community and causes my heart to break for our community and for the vast majority of our officers who dedicate their lives to serving our County. This will not stand, and I assure our community that any officer acting in this vain will be held to account. (2 of 3)…

I have also just spoken to our State Attorney @KathyFndzRundle and asked that her office immediately become involved in the investigation. (3 of 3)

Police are trained to deal with unruly or disrespectful people who are upset – or even verbally aggressive – for whatever reason.  This, though, was not the proper way to handle this situation, and the officer seemed to operate out of anger rather than his training.
The name of the officer involved in the incident was not released. The identity of the woman in the video has also not been revealed, neither was the exact reason for her arrest.
Same ish, different day.
