Could the “Real Housewives of New York” be adding some melanin to the cast? Possibly. Word on the curb is that two black women – Bershan Shaw & Alicia Quarles – could be joining the franchise. Deets inside…
The “Real Housewives of New York” is currently being shaken up with who’s staying and who isn’t returning before the upcoming 13th season. And it appears there may be some new blood joining the franchise. “RHONY” has not featured a Black housewife ever in the franchise’s 12 seasons, and only one woman of a color – Jules Wainstein in 2016 who is partly Asian – but that could possibly be changing. Y’all know Bravo is late to the party always when it comes to learning there’s black people in cities outside of D.C. and Atlanta.
Word on the curb is that TV personality Alicia Quarles could be bringing her talents to BRAVO’s “RHONY” franchise. During an interview on Behind The Velvet Rope, she was asked if she was joining franchise. The self-proclaimed fashion lover didn’t confirm she’s joining the show, but she didn’t say she wouldn’t be starring on the reality series either. The award-winning journalist said she’s good friends with all of the ladies on the show and left it open about whether or not she’s joining the show.
Further fueling rumors, Alicia snapped it up with “RHONY” star LuAnn de Lesseps while out to dinner in the Big Apple last month:

We wouldn’t be mad at this.
There’s more melanin possibly being added to the show as well:

Last day in New York City. Last meeting. Last time I’m going to live in fear. I got GOD on my side. I’m off to a new beginning. A new me. A new chapter. A new way of thinking. It’s time for me to focus. Get closer to GOD. Get closer to my family. Get closer to finalizing my other stream of income. It’s time to sit down and focus my energy on the things that matter not on the things that don’t. Everyone stay safe and help those in need #motivation #selflove #covid_19 #inspiration #focus #execution #winning #successmindset #mindset #success #businesswoman #likeforlikes #businesscoach #celine

Motivational speaker Breshan Shaw is also rumored to join the cast. Breshan – who is a two-time cancer survivor – has reportedly been filming scene for the hit BRAVO series. While she may not be an official cast mate, it’s rumored she could possibly be a “friend of the show.”
Brenshan is no stranger to television after starring on the 2014 OWN reality show, “Love in the City.” These days, she’s traveling around the world as a motivational speaker, sharing how she survived breast cancer after being diagnosed at the age of 33.
In a caption from a picture of herself posted in March, she wrote, “Last day in New York City. Everyone stay safe and help those in need,” she said.
It’s up in the air on whether or not fan favorite Leah McSweeney will be returning. Apparently, she’s negotiating a new deal to get more money and she’s not going to film until she gets her coins.
Sources close to the show tell TMZ … Leah is only being offered a “minuscule” pay raise for the upcoming 13th season of ‘RHONY’ — which would be her second — and she feels disrespected.
We’re told the breakout ‘Housewife’ is holding out for an offer she feels is more deserving, considering what she brought to the table in her debut season … and she won’t return until she gets it. The clock is ticking, though — the new season’s supposed to start shooting in a week or 2.
Our sources say McSweeney made $3k per episode last season, which netted her about $60k, and she feels Bravo is trying to underpay her with a similar offer for Season 13.
There you have it.
In response to many of your inquires, the answer is no, I will not be returning to #RHONY. Thank you for the support, laughs, and friendship. I adore so many of you. I value you, and I am always available to chat.

“RHONY” star Elyse Slaine announced she will not be returning for the next season. She was a “friend” of Ramona’s and that ish did not end well.
With Dorinda out and possibly Leah, that’s two spots open for some melanin.
RHONY’s producers supposedly set out to diversify the cast and it might actually be happening. Will you be watching?
